It has a beautiful and simple design with the Otis trademark symbol in the center and a "u" and "d" on the sides. It is in very good vintage and used condition. The heavy bronze has patina and surface wear. On the back reads, "716-SW-1". Mounting Hardware is not included. This is a very rare item, the 7.5 inch medallion rarely comes on the market. It would make a great gift for someone interested in antique elevator hardware. The Otis elevator company remains the world's largest manufacturer of vertical transportation systems, principally elevators and escalators. Otis was founded in Yonkers, New York in 1853 by Elisha Otis. The company pioneered the development of the safety elevator, invented by Otis, which used a special mechanism to lock the elevator car in place should the hoisting ropes fail.
